Australian health care facilities rank favourably with other developed countries and professional, well-managed facilities are available.

Some points to remember:

• If you are a permanent resident, apply for your Medicare cards the first time you come to Australia on your permanent visa.
• If you are on a temporary visa, and you country of origin does not have a reciprocal arrangement with Australia it is our opinion that you should take out private health care insurance.
