Transport Your Driver's Licence On arrival in Australia, there is a three month period of grace during which you must arrange for your Australian license. The license will be issued by the state in which you are living. You will be required to provide proof of identity and then have to write a Road Rules Test for the appropriate class/es of license, followed by a Practical Driver assessment. Some foreign applicants are exempt from this test, for example, applicants from the British Isles. Driving under the influence of alcohol is against the law and the Police are allowed to test any driver for alcohol consumption without needing a reason to do this. Every Licensed driver has 12 points allocated to him/her which are deducted for offences, and when the points are finished, so is the license. |
