you can utilize. To open a bank account in Australia you will be asked to provide identification. This is done via the 100 points test. Below is a range of identification that is deemed acceptable, and each piece of identification shown is allocated a points value. Once you have reached 100 points you will be able to open an account. In Australia a bill at a retail type outlet is usually paid via a credit card or an EFTPOS (electronic funds transfer at point of sale) card issued by a bank. These transactions transfer funds immediately, no signature is required just a 4 digit pin number. Note also that you can draw cash when paying for goods at most retail outlets – this can be a useful way of minimizing your bank charges.
